Despite popular messaging, consumers are the true job creators, and that government is also a BIG consumer. Think of it this way: Joe sees that there is demand for a car wash and has one built. Besides the construction company having work he has employees too. Did Joe create jobs? No, if there was no demand there would be no jobs. Joe is skilled in business startup, business management, and personnel management and deserves to be paid accordingly, but he did not create the jobs.
Our business leaders take credit for something they don’t do because we let them. If consumers knew that they are the creators and that demand does not have to be filled by any particular company, that more ethical companies can replace current companies, then consumers would be more apt to exert their power. Do you think business leaders want this taught
in our schools?
