Collectively we have been holding our breath until this nightmare is over. But the world is awake and watching as we have shown little concern about disastrously high CO2 levels.

Imagine that. As weather disasters mount, a major European country notices that we have shown such little interest in what could be the life or death of our planet. Instead we climb down into the gutter and do and say inane things during a presidential election and take no notice that the earth is dying. We may be wasting away the last remnants of respect the whole world has had for us, by reinforcing that we are truly the ugly, thoughtless Americans.
